Aging in Place
As the Baby Boomers near their retirement, many are posed with the question, “Where will I spend my golden years?” For some, it may mean moving somewhere tropical or warm. For some, it may mean downsizing. For some, it may mean moving to an assisted-living community. For others, it means customizing their current home to fit their future needs.
Aging in place renovations allow elderly folks to live a healthy, accessible, and comfortable life in their current home. To DLR, this means evaluating the need for and putting in place a variety of upgrades that will allow our clients to maintain or surpass their current quality of life. These renovations could include:
- updating home exterior with low-maintenance materials
- developing a floor plan to allow one-level living
- lowering kitchen and bathroom countertops
- widening hallways and entryways
- adding non-slip flooring
- adding accessibility ramps (interior and exterior)
